History

Founded 83 years ago, today the Fleury Group is one of the most highly regarded companies in Brazil’s healthcare industry, recognized by both the medical community and public opinion for its excellence in quality, innovation and customer service.

Fleury has a team formed by professionals recognized both in Brazil and abroad and that enjoys a unique positioning in the Brazilian market, offering complete and integrated solutions in the healthcare chain, encompassing the preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic segments.  

In Diagnostic Medicine, the Group has substantially expanded its presence through organic growth and acquisitions, with this latter process initiated in 2002 and yielding as of 2008 the acquisition of 23 companies. As a result of this expansion, today the Group performs more than 30 million tests each year at its 150 service units, which are located in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Pernambuco, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul, as well as in the Federal District of Brasília.

In parallel with its expansion in the diagnostic medicine industry, the Fleury Group has significantly advanced in the development and diversification of its businesses to fully meet the needs of its various strategic publics.

In 2006, the Fleury Healthcare Management business unit was created to offer companies and individuals solutions to help optimize the returns on their investments in healthcare and to improve their quality-of-life and productivity indicators.

Comprised initially of check-up and health-promotion services, in 2008 this unit signed an international partnership agreement with Healthways, the leader in the U.S. market in services to manage chronic diseases. The solutions can significantly improve the health and quality of life of people suffering from chronic ailments, reducing the complications from these diseases and consequently lowering costs for plan operators and client companies.

The Fleury Group is also regarded as a center of reference in the performance of complex and cutting-edge tests for approximately 3,000 clinical laboratories and hospitals throughout Brazil.

In addition to this strong expansion in the scope of its operations, the Fleury Group also garnered important recognition for its management by winning the 2007 Corporate Governance Award in the unlisted company category from the Brazilian Corporate Governance Institute (IBGC).

The Fleury team has approximately 5,000 professionals, of which some 600 are physicians. In 2008, the Group recorded gross revenue of over R$ 700 million.
